Coloring Contest

It is time once again for the annual Elizabethtown Fair Coloring Contest for children ages 4 to 10. Age divisions will be 4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10. Color the picture and submit it to the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday, August 18th between 9:00 a.m. and Noon or Sunday, August 19th between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Deadline for entry is 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Photocopies are acceptable, but enlargements will not be accepted. Ribbons will be awarded 1st through 5th place. All entries will be displayed throughout the week. Winning entries will be mailed to their owners at the close of the Fair. For more information call Bonnie at 717.361.9111.

Baby Photo Contest

A Baby Photo Contest will again take place during the Elizabethtown Fair this year. Children two years of age or younger are eligible. The deadline for entry is noon on Saturday, August 17th. The contest is being run by the Elizabethtown Fire Department. Photographs may be dropped at the Firehouse daily between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. the week of August 12th, or by contacting Lisa at 717.471.3192. Photographs will also be accepted in the Fair Office between 9 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 17th.

Although any 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 photographs are acceptable for entry, it is recommended that vertical 8 x 10 photographs be submitted for display purposes. Photocopies will be accepted. Parent’s and child’s name, address and phone number are to appear on the back of the photograph.

The photos will be displayed at the Fair throughout Fair Week. It is recommended that photos be picked up Saturday, August 24th, in the Fair Office, following the announcement of winners. Any photos not picked up at this time will be available for pick-up at the Firehouse. All photos must be claimed by September 7, 2019.

For voting purposes, during Fair Week, one cent equals one vote. All forms of United States money are acceptable. Winners of 1st ($200), 2nd ($100) and 3rd ($50) place will be announced at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th.

Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Elizabethtown Fire Company and the Elizabethtown Fair.

Pet Photo Contest

The twenty-fourth annual Pet Photo Contest will be held at the Elizabethtown Fair this year. All pets are eligible.

Photographs should be dropped off at Waggin’ Wheels Pet Supply, 709 Cloverleaf Road, Elizabethtown, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Photos may also be sent to 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue, PO Box 549, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or dropped at the Fair Office on Saturday, August 17th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Photos must be 5” x 7” or 8” x 10”. To ensure good visibility, vertical 8” x 10” photographs are recommended. Photos MUST fit in an 8” x 10” space. If more than one photo of the same pet is submitted, both photos must fit in the 8” x 10” space. Photos may be cut to fit and stapled or taped to the display.

The owner’s name, address and phone number, as well as the pet’s breed and name, MUST appear on the back of the photo. Entries are limited to two per family.

Photos will be on display for voting throughout Fair Week. It is recommended that photos be picked up Saturday, August 25th, at the Pet Photo Display following the announcement of winners. Any photos not picked up at this time will be available for pick-up at Waggin’ Wheels Pet Supply. All photos must be claimed by September 6, 2019.

The three pet photos receiving the most votes (one cent equals one vote) will receive gift certificates donated by Waggin’ Wheels. All forms of United States money are acceptable.

Proceeds from the Pet Photo Contest will benefit the 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue and the Elizabethtown Fair.

Corn Hole (New This Year)

The Corn Hole Tournament for 2019 will be for youth ages 12 to 17. The tournament will begin Thursday, August 22nd at 6:00 p.m. The tournament will be limited to 32 teams of 2 people. Rules will be specified by he Fair. Boards and bags will be supplied by the Fair. To preregister mail names, entry fee ($5), phone number and email to: Elizabethtown Fair, PO Box 292, Bainbridge PA 17502. Entries will also be accepted an hour prior to start time if less than 32 teams are registered. For information contact Gina at 717.278.8484. Chess Tournaments

A Chess Tournament will be held in Myer Hall again in 2019. There will be 3 Divisions – Child (under 13), Youth (under 19) and Open. The Child will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21st, the Youth at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd, and the Open at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 23rd. The tournament will follow United Chess Federation (USCF) rules. Regulation Boards, pieces and clocks will be provided.
